I have been on a journey for the past 4 years to reduce the amount of items that I own and I am trying to understand what is really necessary for living day to day. I was blessed to own 2 condos. One in Chicago and one in Florida. COVID made it very difficult for me to get to Florida on a regular basis and the costs were increasing dramatically to fly & rent a car while I was there. It was clear that I wasn’t receiving the amount of enjoyment that I had in years past. I decided to sell my condo in Florida and become a permanent resident of Chicago. The challenge that I had is that 2 of everything now and needed to move quite a bit of “stuff” back to Chicago. I made the decision to sell all of the furniture with the sale of the condo but I did make a couple of trips back and forth to Chicago with my belongings. My recommendation is that you look really hard at what you own. If you haven’t used your items in more than a year, try to release those items to the universe. You can sell or donate the items. I am learning through the process that I need to more present when I purchase specific items. The less you own the better off you will be!
